Flo & Spicey

‎"it's difficult to describe just how weird and special this package is. comprising a 3 track cassette, a tote bag, an art print, a badge, a lyric booklet and a photograph book, 'first' is the initial utterance from a mysterious duo that are known to be based in glasgow, are well-versed in the diy history of that city and, well, that's about it. musically, the lo-fi stew is instantly fulfilling. using cut ups, samples, noise and drift, the 3 tracks here range from unintelligible noise to pure psych-soul pop. it's the latter that hits the best, with a sultry female vocal (flo?) delivering a stand-offish, perfect sulk of a vocal in the best french pop tradition while a howling at the rain male rages under heavy echo. there's scant clues in the art print or the two booklets accompanying but a labour of love in the best diy tradition this most definitely is. as an initial utterance it doesn't get more ambitious or fun than this." rough trade

Now to buy in Rough Trade London (or online) or in Monorail Glasgow.
